About Us
|
Troy is a first Nations songwriter and composer. He came up with the idea of a folk band as he has been composing art-music with the Ngarra-Burria, a First Nations composers initiative. He was writing about his Great Grand-Mothers life as she was an extraordinary woman who lived in the late 1800's an through to the 1980's. He was commissioned by various bodies including The Sydney Living Museums for an exhibition titled "Songs of Home". Bree Baxter and Troy were also commissioned by Urban Theatre Projects for a musical piece for "Black Box", which was an interactive listening exhibition and was directed by Daniel Browning of ABC's Radio National program AWAYE!. Troy, Bree, Leila and Chris share the song-writing equally. "We write music from the heart."

What We Bring
|
Gii means heart. The word Gii is from the Gamillaroi people of the New England area in New South Wales in Australia. What happens when a string band performs with all manner of guitars, banjos and fiddles? Well, people dance, sing, weep, swoon, swing and sway. This is GiiMusic.
Have a listen. Tap your toes. We play from the heart, for the heart. |
