About Us
|
HER style is eclectic, roar and edgy, with shades of post punk & hard rock references to the angst driven post glam apocalyptic days of the 90’s grunge era, when bands like Sound Garden, Black Crowes & Pearl Jam reigned supreme.
The Melbourne rock scene was alive and rocking, and Mish was emerging from being a blues rock singer, playing two nights per week for four years in St Kilda, in the early 90’s, to switching her bluesy Robert Plant style with influences like Tina Turner and Janis Joplin to the heavier riffs & the sound that was coming out of the Seattle music scene, when Mish formed her first original rock metal band Steel. One of Mish’s favourite Australian rock bands of all time, who manged to achieve success in this era was The Baby Animals. HER melds some of Mish’s favourite influences, Betty Davis, Black Crowes, with her soaring vocal range to what could only musically be described as a fusion of Blues soul, funk & punk rock. With Mish & Jerome partnering in Dec 2018 a powerhouse couple had formed. They had finally found each other, and a slow and steady song writing collaboration had blossomed. At first they were both hesitant about joining up in Mish’s project, but instinctively were drawn to their love for the same music that is essential to their core being and life together. Jerome is basking in the opportunity to play electric guitar again, being already well established as one of the worlds greatly celebrated bass players, Jerome has a point to make, his not just a bass player, his a multi instrumentalist and producer! Jerome brings a wealth of knowledge and song writing experience to this dynamic song writing partnership which has become the back bone of HER. To their first single a progressive 60’s styled pop rock song produced by Jerome engineered by John Hall, and co-written by Mish’s and her guitarist and long standing friend of 25 years Sam Petra from Steel, is one of their more commercial tracks “Dug your love” with accompanying music clip directed by Bhushan Gaur, with reflections of The Rolling Stones, and due for release on the 25th of January 2020. With six more singles recored and also scheduled for realease next year, European distribution deal, with Wolf Entertainment and tour manger on the job booking a European tour also scheduled for Sept 2020, they are well on thier way to achieving their life long goal. HER live set is a collection of songs writen and co-writen by Mish, Sam, and Jerome, however the latest studio recording is a definitive break away from the grunge hard rock songs of Steel, to a more punk vibe with the Davie Smith flavour. Live, they mix it up with some funkadelic slide in “My soul you’ll keep” a 70’s soul funk groove, to the heavier openers like Dancing Bull which sounds like some crazy mix of Motorhead, Black Sabbath, King Crimson and Jimi Hendrix all rolled into one, and brings an unbridaled ferocity to their live shows. WHEN’S IT GONNA STOP, Is one of the Davie Smith’s latest punk tunes, confronting the double standards in society that say’s its ok for a women to come onto other women, touch them, try and kiss them, and society thinks it’s OK? Most men become arroused by it, but if it was a male doing this to a female in the club scene they would most likely be punched or ejected from the venue. HELD ME UNDER, a soulful & funky melody with a rock overlay, huge chorus with a powerful message, about standing up and stating you’re not going to take any more shit, or be manipulated, charmed or owned ever again. That moment of pure freedom when you realise that there is an easier way, a way that comes from love, from being seen, listened to, respected and appreciated. That perfect see ya later moment! RUN FROM THE INSIDE, Is another new punk rock tune, about running into walls and laws and realising that it all starts with your inner thoughts how you go about being in this universe and what you think is what you get! Fear, anxiety and denial! You can’t run from yourself, the inside. |
