About Us
|
On an island continent tens of thousands of miles from the music’s birthplace; Melbourne-based Salsa & Latin Jazz orchestra TUMBAO SOCIAL, a robust, charismatic 11-piece ensemble with an atypical horn lineup alongside the classic salsa rhythm section was conceived with several ambitious goals in mind. To create world-class music, to pay homage to the elegant latin dance & salsa romantica orchestras of the 80’s and 90’s, and to bestow swingin’ rhythmic bliss upon the public.
With a unique yet authentic sound, TUMBAO SOCIAL brings you some of the finest dancefloor classics from artists & bands such as Willie Rosario, Roberto Roena, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra and more; however the creative powerhouse of musicians assembled allows for some respectable home-grown content to ease into the repertoire. And here they stand eager to share their sound with not only the Australian public, but the world. |
What We Bring
|
Tumbao Social is a high-octane 9-12 piece ensemble that loves getting the crowd involved and dancing. We currently maintian a monthly residency at beloved salsa hotspot; The Night Cat where we are constantly building our following.
We've been lucky enough to share the stage with Grammy winners and absolute titans of the genre and constantly aim to push original music and keep the tradition of salsa music alive. |
