About Us
|
Andy V is a live looping multi-instrumentalist that performs across various UK bass music styles, mainly including Drum and Bass and Reggae styles. With his saxophone, keyboards, vocals and signature loop stations, Andy brings a highly dynamic 'one man band' show full of live energy and creative imagination.
Highly influenced from acts such as Fat Freddy's Drop, The Cat Empire, Dub Fx, The Black Seeds, Gentleman's Dub Club, Andy's live show takes his audiences on a truly memorable listening experience driven by his passion to perform and connect with like minded people. Andy's introduction into the international music scene began in 2014 when he joined bass music and beat box legend Dub Fx on several world tours as his multi-instrumental hand man. Since then Andy has been based in the UK and has shaped a unique sound and live show of his own. Having recently supported fellow Aussie artists The Cat Empire and nearby neighbours The Black Seeds, Andy has his sights set on making big waves at upcoming Australian festivals in 2021 and beyond! |
What We Bring
|
"I bring a highly energetic and very musical act that has a very full sound. Often promoters in the past have included my act as way of breaking up an all electronic lineup and/or as a more musical act that still has an electronic edge and fatness (think Fat Freddys Drop, Tijuana Cartel etc). I can also tailor my set/s to vary in energy. For example, my show can be performed with an MC for an even higher energy - and can be also scaled back to super chilled dub/reggae/latin vibes for daytime slots on smaller stages etc"

A streamlined/accessible version of Live looping masterclass, see below
Suggested Requirements Basic musical instrument/s skills To own or eventually own a looper, (hardware or software)* Recommended for ages 10+ Software loopers exist in apps such as Garage Band, Abelton Live, iphone/ipad apps etc Introduction Live looping is a really fun and beneficial activity that anyone with basic instrumental skills can reach new levels of musical development and enjoyment. The list of benefits live looping has to offer students is great; progress comes quite quickly as loop machines are relatively simple to learn and understand. At the beginning level of live looping, students will become familiar with how a loop machine functions and how to use their instrument/s of choice to create multiple musical loops. Basic functions of loop stations include the following... Stop/start Record Overdub Clear/undo track Tap tempo Metronome Drum beat accompaniment* *Roland Rc505 model Course work A loop machine should be considered in the same way as regular musical instrument study. It's functions should be studied and practised in order to achieve high level musical loops that are both in time and in tune. Timing The single most important part of creating a clean and accurate loop is the 'punch in' and 'punch out' points. Students will gain a solid understanding of when to begin and finish a loop, including how many bars of time that loop will last, (ie 2, 4, 8 bars in length). Layers The idea behind a loop machine is that many loops can exist simultaneously, just like when you hear a band or orchestra perform. It's not only possible, but a great deal of fun to create as many musical loops as the student can think of, to then later use for structuring their own unique compositions. |
