The Australian music festivals 2020 calendar has been thrown into chaos by the dreaded virus and you (and we!) have been struggling to keep up as festival organisers are forced to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. But! We've just completed our review of our Oz Music Festivals calendar, and the good news is that with the virus on the back foot, there's a growing number of music festivals both big and small for you to choose from in this summer. Read below a State by State summary of Australian music festivals coming up over the summer months. We include big festivals and small, classic to jazz to doof and in between, so there's sure to be a festival that fits your style! See out 2020, throw off the Covid Blues (we've got a tshirt for that), and bring in 2021 with a big dose of music festivals live music :) QUEENSLAND Leading off for summer for Queensland next week is the brand new festival, Feedback Festival on the Gold Coast. 10 days, 10 venues and 50+ bands! Also in December 2020 are Elements Festival (Sunshine Coast) and the Wildlands Music Festival (Brisbane). Early next year you'll find Earth Frequency (Peak's Crossing), Backroad Bash (Toowoomba), This That (Sandstone Point) and Agnes Blues Root & Rock (Agnes Water). NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY Kick off the new year with NYD 2021 A New Year (North Sydney) who promise "top class underground house, progressive & techno DJs and champagne all round!" Sounds to good to resist to us! The mega multi arts festival Sydney Festival (Sydney), and Yours and Owls (Wollongong) are coming in January 2021. And then in February 2021, Thrashville (Hunter Valley), AltFest (Chippendale), This That (Newcastle) and a number of Under The Southern Stars shows (Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Gosford) round out the summer. VICTORIA Melbourne Music Week is a regular calendar fixture, usually in November. This year they have rejigged things due to you know what, and have come up with MMW - Extended (Melbourne). A program of events across the entire summer - starting in early December 2020. Also in December are the African Music & Cultural Festival (Online for this year) and Sounds of Summer (Inverloch). In January 2021, you'll find the Peninsula Summer Music Festival (Mornington Peninsula). And then in February 2021 - and we challenge you to say this quickly ' - the Rock Ballarat Rock'n'Roll Rockabilly Festival (Ballarat), Yarra Junction Fiddlers Convention (Yarra Junction), Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival (Bruthen), Under The Southen Stars (Hastings, Yarrawonga) and the Paynesville Music Festival. TASMANIA The folks at Cygnet Folk Festival had their festival plans upset, so have arranged a Day at Rosny Park (Rosny Park, Hobart). In February 2021, head for Launceston for Indulge (Launceston) where you'll be seated at your table on the playing arena of UTAS stadium and enjoy live music while sampling signature dishes from local vendors accompanied with beers, ciders, wines and spirits. SOUTH AUSTRALIA Adelaide is the place to be if you're in South Australia in February 2021 and have a hankering of for some live music! Two giants of the arts festival calendar in Australia - Adelaide Fringe and the Adelaide Festival - will keep you moving around Adelaide sampling the offerings of extraordinarily talented artists from mid February through to March. For a change of pace, head for Bonython Park for the travelling rock show Under The Southern Stars! Starting mid January 2021 is Perth's Fringe World Festival and then in February 2021 there's Perth Festival - both of these are large multi venue multi arts festivals. The travelling rock show, Under The Southern Stars (Perth) occurs mid February and the much loved Nannup Music Festival (Nannup) rounds out summer in WA.
