June 2021 Queensland and Brisbane Music Festivals
Described as "a very Brissy block party", the inaugural NINE LIVES festival brings Stella Donnelly, Mildlife, Tropical Fuck Storm and lots more to the Tivoli for a one day three stages full on day. Don't procrastinate on tickets for this one. At the time of writing, over 50% of tickets had been sold and they'd only been on sale for a few days!
The Townsville Folk and Acoustic Music Club are hosting their 30th anniversary PALM CREEK FOLK FESTIVAL in early June. (10 days from now at the time of writing this!) The festival boasts a lineup including Vaudeville Smash, Tullara, Salt and Steel and Jesse Morris & the Shakedown and many more. Keen? You better hurry on this one too. Yarn Bombing - "Yarn bombing (or yarnbombing) is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk." (Wikipedia)
So what's the connection between yarn bombing and jazz? There's only one that we can make out. And that's the JUMPERS & JAZZ IN JULY music festival held in Warwick every (you guessed it) July! Could this be Queensland's quirkiest music festival? Go along and catch the Mal Wood Quartet, Dezzie D & The Stingrayz, Aaron West & the Custodians and more and let us know. Oh, and we believe it's 'in' to wear a jumper.... Quirky, you say? Well, you've got to go along to Greazefest. GREAZEFEST is in the organiser's words "the utmost kustom kulture event in the Southern Hemisphere, where thousands of rockabilly and hot rod fans roll up for a massive dose of ultra-kool kustom kulture." Catch cool cars, rockabilly bands, djs, fashion parades, pinups, vintage bikes, lowrider cycles, kustom art shows, art workshops and competitions, pinstripers, markets. Celebrating 40 years this year, the GYMPIE MUSIC MUSTER is an iconic music festival held near the end of August in the Amamoor State Forest outside Gympie. 100 artists, 5 venues over 4 days, the Gympie Music Muster showcases a mix of country, roots, blues, folk and rock. Performers this year include Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers and Adam Brand to name a few!
Just a 45 minute drive from the center of Brisbane, VILLAGE FEST at Logan Village. Shannon Noll has just been announced as the fest's headline act, Bad Neighbour, with more to come! Tickets are on sale now.
